Duster was originally Katwo Puertollano (Narda), Kris Dancel (Fatal Posporos, Cambio), Myrene Academia (Sandwich, Imago), and newcomer Ristalle Bautista.
They’re under Soupstar Entertainment, the same management that handles bands like Sandwich, Pedicab, Ernville, Imago, 6 Cycle Mind and Callalily just to name a few.
At last year’s Soupstar Christmas party, Raimund Marasigan asked me if I was interested in being Duster’s new vocalist because Katwo has plans of migrating to the States with her husband. Of course I was ecstatic. I’ve always wanted to be in a band but I’ve had trouble looking for bandmates and just like that I was been handed an opportunity to work with long time pros! I said yes, yes, a million times yes!
The girls have been wonderful and so welcoming, I feel so at home every time we have band practice. Katwo has been great in slowly training me to take her place (if I had it my way I’d have her stay in Manila and Duster could have two vocalists all the time). If you’ve been a longtime reader of my blog, you’d know that I have a really horrible case of stage fright. It took me so long to be comfortable in front of a camera for TV but I still get nervous in front of a live audience. When I was told that my first gig with them was for Channel V’s Red Revolution, I panicked.
Channel V’s Red Revolution was a music festival held last February 9 to raise awareness for HIV and AIDS.
I am an ambassador of The Red Whistle so I didn’t want to let the band and organization down. I said I was ready and there I was trying to keep my cool.
It was a big help that my boyfriend’s band, Ernville, also played at the event!

Jim told me that once I get on stage and the band is playing, I’d get lost in the music and not even care that there’s a sea of people watching me. Thankfully, that’s exactly what happened!:)
I had such a blast, too bad I can’t find any videos! Thank you so much to Jewels Sison for these photos! Our second gig was at the UP fair last February 16 and that was amazing as well. Tonight for my third gig with them we’re playing a much smaller venue. We’re performing at Route 196 (Katipunan extension) for Cyndi Lauper night with Vulture Club, Top Junk and The Ronnies. Tomorrow we’re playing at Marist School in Marikina with Gaijin, Ernville, 6 Cycle Mind and Sandwich for their event, Spark.

I thought it was a joke when i read that you’d be Duster’s new vocalist. So I guess it’s not. Damn. I’m confused if I’m happy about this or not (as if my feelings matter) because I’m such a big fan of Duster. But seeing that Raims personally chose you, I know he made a good choice. He knows what he’s doing and he wouldn’t do anything to forsake the band. I have high hopes and respect for you, Saab. :)

I went on a sout beach diet for a week. No cheating except for a little bit of wine and that’s when I lost a lot. But I think I already gained it all back. Haha. Right now it’s no rice for Lent! Thanks for visiting my blog :)

This last threading was care of Brow Studio at Eastwood Citywalk. Much cheaper (around 150 compared to 560 of Browhaus) and closer to my place. Medyo ghetto hits compared to Browhaus pero keri haha!

We have a gig on Tuesday at Sazi’s bar. It’s a Sandwich tribute night so all the bands are covering Sandwich songs :)
I just saw your “Almost Famous” video and I fell in-love with you even more. You really inspire people like me with a lot of insecurities to dish the bad and focus on the good.
